Birch Bay Rug Hooking will be on site to provide hand dyed wool, scissors, patterns, books, hooks and more for this wonderful retreat. The facilities at Aldersgate are comfy-fabulous. Beginning Rug Hooking Class, Kelowna Yarn & Needlework, Kelowna, BC

Learn the basics of rug hooking using a pattern designed just for Kelowna. Heidi designed a California quail and grape leaf pattern that will give the you the skills you need to start creating beautiful hand hooks rugs and mats. No experience necessary. Bring a pair of craft scissors, a rug hook and a frame or quilting hoop if you have one. Heidi will also brings these items should you need them. Saturday night’s class will be a lecture on the history of rug hooking and she’ll also review the basic supplies for rug hooking. Rug Hooking Exhibit August 1 - 31 at the Pacific Northwest Quilt and Fiber Arts Museum, La Conner, WA

This fantastic fiber arts museum will be featuring a display of hooked rugs for the first time ever. The rugs were crafted by Heidi Grevstad, and the woman who first taught her to hook, Heidi’s mom Barbara Sendt. The exhibit will display a wide array of hooking styles from primitives to folky landscapes to fine shaded florals and geometrics.
